Ingredients
1 lb beef, sliced thin (such as flank steak or sirloin)
2 cups broccoli florets
2 teaspoons minced ginger
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ to ¾ cup water (optional, for tenderizing beef)
¼ cup cooking oil (vegetable, canola, or avocado oil)
Pinch of salt
Ground black pepper to taste
For the Marinade:
¼ cup oyster sauce
1 tablespoon Knorr Liquid Seasoning
1 teaspoon granulated white sugar
½ teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine the oyster sauce, Knorr Liquid Seasoning, granulated white sugar, and sesame oil. Add the sliced beef and mix well until every piece is coated evenly. Sprinkle in the cornstarch and stir again until the beef looks glossy and well mixed. Set aside while you prepare the broccoli and aromatics.
Stir-Fry the Broccoli: Heat about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Add the minced ginger first and stir for about 20 seconds until fragrant. Quickly add the broccoli florets before the garlic browns, and toss for 1 to 2 minutes until the broccoli turns bright green and is just tender. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set aside.
Cook the Beef: Add the remaining cooking oil to the skillet and increase the heat to high. Spread out the marinated beef in a single layer to allow proper browning. Stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the beef starts to brown. For extra tender beef, add a splash (about ½ cup) of water, cover briefly, and let it simmer while stirring occasionally until the liquid evaporates and the beef is tender.
Bring It All Together: Season the skillet with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste. Return the cooked broccoli to the pan and stir-fry everything together for 3 to 4 minutes. This allows the sauce to thicken slightly and coat all the ingredients evenly. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
