If you see someone with a three-dot tattoo, run away as far as possible.

The teardrop tattoo
is one of the most well-known in the prison system and can have various meanings. Very often, if you see an inmate with a teardrop tattoo under their eye, it means they are serving a long sentence or have already committed a murder. In this context, the teardrop symbolizes the sadness and grief of the victim’s mother.

This tattoo can also mean that the person has attempted murder or that a friend of the prisoner has been murdered and they want revenge.

Simply put, a teardrop filled with ink means that the prisoner has already committed at least one crime, and with each subsequent murder, a new teardrop is added.

If
the teardrop hasn’t dried, it could indicate that the “job” isn’t finished yet: the prisoner is expressing a desire for revenge after the death of a loved one, a friend, or even a cellmate. This shows that he doesn’t feel a real thirst for revenge and that only once he achieves this goal will he be able to “dry his tears” and sleep peacefully… in his cell.

Many rappers and celebrities have popularized this prison tattoo to give themselves a tough, rebellious image.

ACAB inscription.
This is a British tattoo that means “All cops are bastards.”

A clock without hands
symbolizes time spent in prison. This tattoo is particularly appropriate for inmates sentenced to life imprisonment or extremely long prison terms. It represents time frozen, passing inexorably. For prisoners who wear this tattoo, time has lost all meaning and no longer has any importance.
