For the Prime Rib Roast
1 prime rib roast (also called standing rib roast), 5β7 lbs
3 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp soft butter
1 tbsp salt (sea salt or kosher salt)
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp dried thyme
2 tsp dried rosemary
2 tsp dried parsley
6β8 cloves fresh garlic, minced
For the Herb Crust
ΒΌ cup soft butter
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
For Serving (Optional)
Au jus gravy
Horseradish cream sauce
π₯ FULL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare the Prime Rib Roast
Remove roast from refrigerator 2 hours before cooking (room temp).
Pat dry with a paper towel.
Rub roast with olive oil and soft butter.
Mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, rosemary, parsley.
Rub seasoning mixture all over the roast (sides, top, bottom).
Press minced fresh garlic onto the outside.

2. Prepare Herb Butter Crust
Mix butter, olive oil, rosemary, thyme, parsley, garlic.
Spread generously over the entire roast.
Place roast fat-side up in roasting pan (very important).

3. High-Heat Sear in Oven
Preheat oven to 230Β°C / 450Β°F.
Roast at high heat for 20 minutes to create crust.
